MobileChat cannot received Unicode text (specifically.. Thai characters) from my buddy.
    Can you look into this?
  • kenny · 1 year ago
Yeah I'm getting the " Cannot connect to Mobile Chat" window about 6 times in a row... Hope tomorrow brings stability..
  • Anders · 1 year ago
    Hello,
I just bought your program, and I think it works wonderful. Im sure it will be a sucess on the AppStore. I wrote a review about it, on my webpage (it's in Danish thouhgh), so I'm sure a lot of Danish people will buy it now ;)
    Thanks for the app!
  • MarcMiller · 1 year ago
i cannot log in at all on my edge.
is their a way for tzones to work ?
i figured it was going to.
  • joe · 1 year ago
I finally got logged in but honestly im a bit disappointed.
So far i prefer the free version of aim.
I wish the buddy icon pics would all load automatically like on the aim version as well.
  • queshy · 1 year ago
    Hey guys,

Good job on the release. I understand this is all new for you and I think you did a much better job than Apple did with MM...haha.
Anyways, all jokes aside, howcome my e-mail notifications aren't working? I set up email notifications to a push accoutn I have on my iPhone, and when I'm on my home screen, I'm not getting any e-mails. Help?
  • Dr. Doom · 1 year ago
    Still doesn't work...
    Let's wait and see later.
  • MarcMiller · 1 year ago
when you edit a new away message and u write whatever you want they still just come up as "Away".
i wanna be able to set it as anything.
  • SERBIAN · 1 year ago
does not work at all for me either.. unable to connect to anything..I bought the app and installed 20 hours ago..
  • Geoff · 1 year ago
Working well for me, now if only MSN allowed multiple connections
  • matt · 1 year ago
    Doesn't work.
  • meagainstmyself · 1 year ago
Can't connect anyway on ICQ and on MSN! A pity, as I really liked the version from the installer on my 1.1.4. Version few month ago...
How long do we have to wait for a stabled connection via EDGE?
  • User · 1 year ago
I can log in, but my buddy list seems not to recognize when people log off.

E.g. If someone is logged on when I sign on and then signs off, i still see their name on my buddy list with a green circle next to it.
  • Griffon · 1 year ago
I can't connect to my Jabber Server

    Messge:
    usernam@server was disconnected
You require encryption, but it is not available on this server.

I'm not sure about the real network stream, i've to make a network dump later when i'm at home. But I think my jabber server don't accept TLS ... only Legacy SSL. Is there any information about what kind of encryption Mobile Chat supports for the connection or are there any plans to support such stuff?
  • Thyraz · 1 year ago
I have a problem with loosing messages.

When I login and then close the program, the IM Accounts stay connected as they should.
But if someone sends me a message, who doesn't send anything while i had the program open, i will never receive these messages.

Even when I reopen MC on iphone, the message will never appear.

    Can someone second that?
  • Sweep · 1 year ago
    Yes, I second that.

Furthermore, non-english letters really tend to mess up the message. I here specifically mean danish letters, such as æ,ø and å. I know for a fact that the same goes for ä, ö and so on.

This, to me is an absolute dealmaker or breaker. Without this, chatting in danish, and probably many other languages, is just not an option, thus breaking the app totally.

I am of the clear and present feeling that this software more resembles pre-beta software, thus making me think that the beta testing phase simply hasnt been intensive enough.

You hardworking lads really need to get these issues fixed ASAP. Beejive is under way with a similar app, and with their more extensive experience, and much larger crew, one can only fear that they will "out-compete" you in absolutely no time, unless your issues are fixed.
  • Witti · 1 year ago
Still can't connect to any service.
  • Felix Jung · 1 year ago
OK, now working fine here, though it crashed a couple of times and seems to have several GUI glitches (Keyboard hiding Account Settings, after connecting the account list looks weird). Now I only need so customize my buddy list. I hate people showing up with their email address...
  • bbplayer5 · 1 year ago
Havent been able to log in with edge or 3G so far, and I get "tried to connect too many times" error message a lot, even though my phone was off all night...

    Still cant get on :(
  • Alexander Kellett · 1 year ago
please add a donate link! i'm certain many people wouldn't mind paying more than the currenty tiny application purchase fee if it means that you can get the hardware and your service will work!
  • bbplayer5 · 1 year ago
So wait... this program will only EVER accept 100 logins? You release this program world wide, and you only allow 100 logins? Are you seriously kidding? You honestly though only 100 people were going to use this program at any given moment??? Ive supported this cause since it was in beta on jailbroken iphones, but that is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard.
  • Sweep · 1 year ago
Where on earth do you find this information?

    Please elaborate.
  • bbplayer5 · 1 year ago
They are quoted as saying they only expected a few HUNDRED logins (not 100, i misquoted). How can you release the most anticipated app and only expect to see a few hundred logins? This is mind boggling....

With an app like this, you should easily expect to see a couple thousand at the VERY least!!! If they were only planning on a few hundred, this program will never work.
  • Sweep · 1 year ago
    Wrong. Pure and simple.

They themselves have stated that 100 new sales pr. day is what their business plan was laid out on.

Nothing about the amounts of connections anywhere.

Now, just for fun, think this one through with me. 100 new users pr day. thats 3100 new users pr month. or 31.000 pr year (rough average, a bit on the high side).

Want to bet that the servers can handle this, but cannot handle the massive amounts of sales that have happened today?
  • bbplayer5 · 1 year ago
And still getting the "tried to connect too many times" error every time I try to log in on any account.
  • Bob · 1 year ago
I'm still getting the "Cannot connect to Mobile Chat" dialog
  • kentor · 1 year ago
i am getting all these errors as well.. however i would just like to congratulate the twenty08 team.. they are now sitting above SUPERMOKEYBALL on the paid apps popular list on itunes. well done guys, but i hope you can get these issues sorted by tomorrow or you are going to have some seriously angry people at your doorstep.
  • Viet · 1 year ago
    i cant even log in.
  • entertainer4ever · 1 year ago
I really hate it!! I purchased a product which does not function yet!! I hope, that they work on their servers!!
  • hi.tech · 1 year ago
i can't login also i hope fix mc to receive Unicode text
  • Andreas · 1 year ago
    Never worked :-(

Why do you want money for an alpha-version ?
  • Alan · 1 year ago
Hmm. So those commenters who are saying that they can't get it to connect ... I assume that means you've actually gotten the product to run in the first place? Must be nice. It just crashes on my iPhone. Reinstalled. Crash. Reinstalled. Crash.

Why isn't this program advertised as a beta release (which, given that it doesn't work, seems generous)

    FAIL.
  • Shibi · 1 year ago
Just hangs saying connecting and never gets anywhere.

At least Palringo works and is free to boot. Maybe if the app was only $1.19 like the rest, or free during the alpha it seems to be in I wouldn't mind.

Dissapointing. Does anyone know how to get a refund?
  • oid · 1 year ago
    Can't connect to MobileChat.

Can't even input MSN login info, which I guess is a consequence of the former?
  • Sweep · 1 year ago
Just to lay a tad of ease on people,

I for one had this app running without problems earlier.

However, only for an hour or two. It worked perfectly, although there were some fixes that I personally see as critical, and thus should be fixed ASAP.

Since then, nothing. Same "Cannot connect" message as everyone else.
  • Shibi · 1 year ago
They state their servers can't handle more than 100 people, that is worrying and shows a failure of this application, if they can't afford the infrastructure for the first day, what hope is there in a weeks time if more people keep getting suckered into this scam.

I bet they are making far more money than the "Am I Rich" guy, but he was at least honest about his scam.
  • sweep · 1 year ago
I ask again, where do they state a max load of 100 connections?
  • Shibi · 1 year ago
    http://tumblr.twenty08.com/post/45769810/status...

    Says:

"Basically, our server software wasn’t able to handle more than a few hundred simultaneous connections before dropping everything and dieing. "

    and also

"the problems that we’re facing are not fixable by “adding more power"
  • macmyke · 1 year ago
Just purchased and downloaded app, unable to connect
  • stealth · 1 year ago
    I want a refund
  • macmyke · 1 year ago
here are my thoughts on this...... IF it is true that they can only accept 100 connections at one time, give us all a refund and pull the app until you have the appropriate infrastructure in place., IF you cannot get your servers to a place of reasonable stability, then give everyone a refund. Really guys, i want to support your efforts and like the idea behind your product.. but remember.... this is a service you are selling.. if you can't deliver, then you really need to give people's money back.
  • Taco · 1 year ago
Upon installing the app my iphone (again) crashed and refused to boot up, for me thats a way bigger issue than this 4 dollars (2,39E). The whole problem with apple and remaining silent about all the problems users experience, pisses me off.

If i were to become a part of the apple fanbase, this would certainly dent that perspective.

Honestly if they didnt expected thismuch users, then what the heck can they do about it.. You never know how hard a product may fail, in general the iPhone is the failure.. Steve Jobs needs to make a statement or soon.. Let's make a vote for that.
  • Scott · 1 year ago
I think they should be given a break and a little time to get this fixed. Yes they planned poorly, but once they get the servers working properly it will be a great addition to the iPhone. I was using it this AM and it worked great.
  • stealth · 1 year ago
I feel this is going to be bad new. The app is now cracked, and therefore so many people are going to be connecting to the servers. I will never connect. Seriously, i think a refund is in order.
  • Shibi · 1 year ago
Sorry, that doesn't wash. The purpose of Beta periods, especially if the app will be a paid application as this is should be to load test and iron out these bugs.

The statement from them that "Basically, our server software wasn’t able to handle more than a few hundred simultaneous connections before dropping everything and dieing. " shows that their core service, the software that runs on their own server was never pushed beyond a few hundred connections and further that this is a fundamental design flaw.

No slack allowed for paid applications, this should have been worked out in Beta.
  • macmyke · 1 year ago
I agree,,,, this is a paid service and now that you have my money,, i want my service!
  • Angel · 1 year ago
Dude, i am not happy to say it, but this sucks... I can't login too !!!
  • sleepy · 1 year ago
If this don't work when I wakeup to go to work I want my money back really.also thought u can't do push. Are you just sending us text if we get an IM. ? Hey that waste my text.
  • JesterXR · 1 year ago
That's why they have the disclaimer stupid. Apple has not release the ACTUAL push service, so they have to use alternative methods right now... if you're so afraid of your poor little text, DON'T USE IT!
  • JesterXR · 1 year ago
Does no one read? They know they are having problems, they are trying to fix them. It is TWO guys. CALM DOWN! Give them a chance before you start bad mouthing them. I just don't understand some people. I understand if it has been a couple of weeks or months but it has been a couple of days. Have some patience!
  • Taco · 1 year ago
Yeah like i stated earlier, big deal that 4 dollars or whatever.. I wanna make apple talk, who is with me :) The problems with the iPhone are enormous and no statement whatsoever for all the people that bought the iPhone in good trust is being made. In a months time a single small firmware update has been released, that made problems even worst.

These guys (mobilechat guys) can take the time they need. Aslong as my iPhone keeps crashing, locking up and needs a reinstall 2x a week ..

Damnit apple brand down the drain!
  • JesterXR · 1 year ago
I am a HUGE apple fanatic! But I will admit that Apple screwed up the 2.0 software! Don't get me wrong... all in all the 2.0 software has made my iPhone even more useful than it was, but it is hit and miss as to when I am able to actually use it.

They need to hurry and release 2.1, and it better fix most, if not all, of the problems, and it better include Push Notification!

Also, on a side note, why haven't they released an update to iTunes that would allow us to rearrange the icons on the phone using our computer instead of the iPhone which just doesn't work!
  • Taco · 1 year ago
For example yes, the rearranging is very slow, but what makes matters even worst is howlong the backup takes, the fact that backups cannot be used in 80% of the crashes, meaning a reinstall meaning rearranging the damn apps.

I love the iPhone but the problems that come with it should have been solved.
I can problably name a whole letter page full with problems i ran into untill now, so either at apple they have sleeping testers or they pushed the iphone (without push :P) on command of commander Jobs. I hope the release the new firmware today :P
  • youpla · 1 year ago
still down for me, can't connect...
  • Jono · 1 year ago
    i can't log in either.
  • Marty · 1 year ago
Just bought it and found out servers were down... Is there a way off temporarily taking this off the App store? How long are we guessing for the outage?

Also from reading comments, +1 for Unicode support, this is VERY important for me!

But, if promises in application description can be delivered, I say it will be $4 AUD well spent!

    Good luck guys!
  • JesterXR · 1 year ago
They tried taking it off of the App Store but Apple is being no help in the issue. Therefore, it is still up. It's not like they wanted to leave it up, they just can't do anything about that now.
  • stealth · 1 year ago
I was just able to log in, so far not impressed at all.
  • Stevin3 · 1 year ago
Oh well. atleast now you got your working product and you can stop asking for a refund.

I also was able to log in... email - push doesn't seem to be working yet... but it is keeping me logged on and delivering my messages... also ... away doesn't seem to be working yet either... good work getting it up guys
  • Rojo · 1 year ago
Yes, yes, it's JUST two guys -- they've repeated that fact over and over and over again -- and we should therefore "give them more time," right?

HOWEVER, that's the main problem with this app. Unless they rapidly expand their operation in the next few days, they are always going to be "just two guys." This is a MAJOR type of application we're talking about here. It's not a tip calculator, or another flashlight, or even a sudoku. It's a communication client -- and if it's going to break down a lot and be unreliable, then it's a failed operation from the get-go. The fact that they openly admit that they only expected 100 sales a day shows GROSS ignorance on their part, and doesn't exactly give me competence that they CAN get their act together, even with plenty of time.

I AM willingly to wait patiently until something is fixed. I waited for the MobileMe mess to clear up, and it did. It sucked in the beginning, for sure -- but I knew Apple had the manpower to eventually make things right again. I don't feel the same way about the MobileChat guys.

I also don't care about spending the $3. In my opinion, an app like this (provided it WORKS), is worth a whole lot more. People crying over the price are complete idiots and shameful cheapskates. HOWEVER, people complaining about it not working, or being concerned about how reliabe these guys are, have honestly every right to bitch.

Yes, they're just two guys. But if they had ANY smarts at all, or done ANY research, they would have known FAR in advance of releasing this that this would NEED to be WAY more than a 2-man operation, and that there could potentially be THOUSANDS (not hundreds) of downloads a day. To not be prepared for that fact shows gross incompetence, and a very legitimate concern for people to be wary of downloading or ever using this app.

There have also been lots of concerns over security, and how information is stored on their servers -- and the fact that they have yet to address people's fears about this implies that users have every right to be afraid something's just not right here...
  • JesterXR · 1 year ago
You make a great point, and I will agree with you all the way! I mainly just can't stand the guys bitching about $3... IT'S $3 you spend more than that on lunch a McDonalds and that only gives you 5 minutes of satisfaction (well it is McDonalds, so satisfaction is pushing it), but once this app works (and hopefully it will), it will be worth a lot more than lunch at McDonalds!

But once again Rojo, I'm with you!
  • Taco · 1 year ago
Cool I was just about to reply about my 3E grapes i bought at the local grocery store, half of them is rotten, and what do I do automatically ? Take out the rotten ones and eat the rest.

I bet not even half this app is rotten :)
  • dan · 1 year ago
I'll second the concern about security. What exactly are they storing on their servers and is our user/pass info stored in a way it could be access by them?

I don't care much about the money part, if they fix this in a timely manner and address the security concerns. I don't really understand why these IM clients have to be dependent on a 3rd party server to work. Seems like a huge security issue...
  • Henk · 1 year ago
    Hi there,

I just bought this app from the App store only to find out it doesnt work still as intended. I thought it was lousy,

    BUT

When yall referred to this website and seeing this (background) info here I really begin to appreciate the honesty of the few that are involved.

Instead of complaining I would like to wish them thebest of luck to tackle these issues and I hope to be able to use the app as it was intended, soon.

    Good luck to you!
  • Flunky Carter · 1 year ago
7:31am PST. Still not working :(
  • stealth · 1 year ago
i just logged in. While it works, there is much more work needed, right now i think Palringo is a lot better.
  • logge · 1 year ago
Palringo isn't that bad, but i really want the feature to keep logged in even if i leave the app for a moment, otherwise i could live with palringo.
i had MC working earlier today and now it's working again, it seems fine so far, but i also miss Unicode (at least it sends out correct though). one more problem in have is that the status of my buddies isn't always updated correctly (maybe it doesn't get all status changes during the downtime). i have some that are displayed as online that are actually offline.
  • Allan · 1 year ago
Bought the App last night with great expectations. Haven't been able to connect since purchase.
Very disappointed in the situation. Feel I've been sold a bill of goods by people who aren't able to execute on their promises. I have six or seven pages of Apps. None have given me the kind of grief I'm experiencing with this. This app has been released prematurely to the detriment of all subscribers who have paid good money onlt to get aggravated.
  • Andrew · 1 year ago
I had an account setup that would never connect, so I gave it a shot to delete the account and then reopen the app. Now the app crashes when I open it and I'm worried that I have now just wasted my money. Please help me out...

    -Andrew
  • daze · 1 year ago
Not sure what your servers have to do with connecting to IM services. Can you advise? Is there some sort of proxying going on?
  • JesterXR · 1 year ago
You are connected to THEIR servers at all times. THEIR servers then connect to the other servers (AIM, Live, etc.) this allows for you to keep logged into the service, such as AIM even if the app is off. At least, that is how I have come to understand it. And I hope this wasn't too confusing, cause I was starting to confuse myself a little.
  • logge · 1 year ago
yes the app is running through their own servers. thanks to this you can still receive messages even if you close the app, so your buddies won't think you're gone, just because you left the app to read a mail or something.
later when apple releases the new features in FW 2.1 you will get notifications on the main screen when you have new messages.
  • Stevin3 · 1 year ago
don't be lazy and read the comments (Use the find function built into your browser). Your question will be answered
  • Zach · 1 year ago
Love or Hate the current situation, at least they have the decency to take the time to fill everyone in on what is going on - unlike Apple did with MobileMe. Props to Twenty08 for all the updates and taking on the challenge they have.

I may not connect today, which is fine, cause I haven't connected for the last year on my Original iPhone and the last month on my 3G . . . at least there is a glimmer of light now!

To all those who want refunds , it was 2 bucks . . . are you that poor? What are you going to use that 2 bucks on - seriously? MobileMe cost $100, and you don't see Apple handing out refunds to everyone who bitches at them . . . If they take the time to refund, that is less time on servers, which makes more people grumpy - so let's all play civil and quit whining.
  • Taco · 1 year ago
I think the problem is bigger than 2 bucks (although i agree with you) to me it was getting pissed at Apple for sticking me up with a half functional product, to others it is taking it out on the little guys because they dont have the balls to fight Jobs :)
  • rex · 1 year ago
Apple will take this down trust me. If enough people complain they will like they did with I am rich. I will write to apple and get my refund realy every apps I got works even apps you can't get on app store work the first time.
  • peteo · 1 year ago
    Hello,
I know their having server problems and its a bummer. I'm confident they will get them worked out. Please give them time. When the servers are up MC works really well. Having their servers keep you logged in all the time is KEY. It allows you to be on IM all the time, so people can chat with you any time. Their servers can then SMS or email you when you get an IM so you can launch MC and view the IM and chat with your buddies. Been waiting for this since my sidekick days. It really changes the way you communicate with people, you always feel in contact with them. So please be patient!
  • Josh · 1 year ago
    Isn't anyone concerned about privacy?
When I bought the app, I assumed I was gonna be asked to open an account on their server, then I could add IM services to that account.

But it seems you simply "add" services. How's that sorted on their servers? do they have a huge mess of accounts all together in the same room? That concerns me and my privacy, and also the ID and password of my services, really. The conection is left open on their servers.. what If someone found a way to enter and see the passwords?

Nothing is 100% secure but if all my IM accounts were under one "mobile chat" account, then it would need to break 2 layers of security and not just one....
  • Josh · 1 year ago
What kind of joke is this!!!!

I entered my MSN account and password. Seeing as the service didn't work OK, I deleted the Account. Yet I noticed YOUR SERVERS still connected to my account everytime I logged out from MSN on my computer. EVERY TIME.

If I delete the account it means i do not want you to access my account again. Plus, any messages I received have been lost.

I have had to CHANGE ALL THE PASSWORDS for your servers to stop trying to log in my account.

THERE NEEDS TO BE A WAY OF MANAGING THIS.

I don't think you have really thought well about security or privacy. Please add an account panel on the Web so we can manage how and when does Twnty08 servers access our IM accounts.

I don't feel ANY SAFE using this piece of software. Urgent solutions are needed. Otherwise I will ask for a refund.
  • JesterXR · 1 year ago
There is one thing that Rojo brought to my attention that I do think the MC guys need to address, an that is security. Since we are connected to their servers, how do we know our information is safe, from them or hackers? Also, what information of ours is accessible to them and what is stored on their servers?
  • Ally · 1 year ago
Yeah I downloaded this last night and I haven't been able to log in. My msn seems to be logging me in but it isn't showing even half my contacts that are online. Whenever I click "Online" aim automatically gives me some crap message about signing in too frequently and I have to wait 10 minutes, and if I try again I'll have to wait longer? Yeah, I don't get that considering I was sleeping before I tried? I don't know, I hope this gets fixed soon.

Does anyone actually have SMS notification working?
  • Angel · 1 year ago
Dude, i don't know if you noticed it, but this isn't a free, gpl shit ... If you sell it you have to be sure that at least i can login ... If this the application don't start working the next hour i will request a refund ... This sucks way too much ...
  • Saverio · 1 year ago
Angel, feel free to email iTunes Store support and request a refund. (For some reason, Apple hasn't provided us a way to refund users directly.) We are making no guarantees as to whether or not the service will be up to your standards. I sincerely apologize for the problems; however, we're doing the best we can.
  • Josh · 1 year ago
Could you please address my security concerns posted a few comments above?
I've had to change all my password because you servers insisted on connecting to my msn account despite the fact I had removed the account from mobilechat.

    Thanks.
  • bender · 1 year ago
haven't been able to connect yet. bought app last night around 8pm PT. please fix, don't think i should be punished for purchasing this app....
    great work otherwise.
  • pico · 1 year ago
Bought this software yesterday. Haven't been able to use at all....
Hope this isn't going to be like this forever. oh well, at least, it's $3 less than a gallon of gas these day.
