Couple questions...

Is the bug with contacts not disappearing when they are no longer connected or you no longer connected to a particular protocol going to be fixed in the version that has been submitted to Apple?

Why does the photo uploading only upload a square photo (cutting off a good portion of the top and bottom of images) rather than the full image?

This is actually a high priority ticket on our internal bug tracking system that we use with beta testers. Once we get the servers stable and get back to work on the client, this will be one of the first few issues we address.

Actually I think I can ease your concern. As of right now, we're not storing your passwords beyond the initial connection. We had plans in place to eventually store them, encrypted of course (each password will be encrypted differently, there isn't a master key). The reason we originally planned on storing them was due to the fact that we wanted to reconnect your account if it was to be disconnected. However, we're not going to do this until we build in an option to tell let you decide whether or not you want us to do that.

Beyond that, the only time we store your IM's is when you suspend the app. Once you resume it, your IM's are delivered and removed from our queue. We're not archiving them and we're not reading. The server simply acts as a proxy to the IM services, and a queue for when you don't have the app open.

However, could you please let me know how is it possible then, that Mobilechat servers keep logging in my MSN account when I log out locally from Adium?

As soon (not even 1 sec delay) I log out, Mobilechat logs in and keeps me logged in. When I run Mobilechat on the iphone, any messages in the queue are not delivered.

is it intended that when I bring MobileChat up after say, fifteen minutes, and I have twenty IMs, that it vibrates for every one of them? That seems kind of needless and often locks up my client.

We're not really sure. As of right now, any enhancements we have planned are going to be considered minor upgrades. However if we completely redo the app for MobileChat 4, at that point, it would be considered a major upgrade.

I seriously think that you should be moving all talk about paid upgrades away from these posts. There is nothing more aggravating to users then being told that their non functioning app will cost more to get fixed (and add new features).

Personally when I purchase applications I expect a years worth of updates and that's all. If you can do that, that's fine. Either way, NOW is not the time to talk about charging your users MORE money. Get the service up and running, that should be your focus.

Shaun mentioned the charging in the post because many users have misunderstood a previous comment regarding upgrades not being free.

As for a major upgrade, I wouldn't expect one for at least 8-9 months. We have plenty on our plate and #1 is perfecting MobileChat for our current users.

Few more things I'd like to mention that I have encountered:

1. When you're in landscape mode and you go to add a photo and choose an album, rather than the top left button saying Photo Albums and allow you to back out of that album to go to another, the button says Chats and you can't go back and have to either add a picture from that album or exit out of the app and go back in.

2. When typing a period space, the keyboard doesn't return to letters and auto shift for the first letter.

3. I haven't been able to determine what caused it but on two occasions, I have received an IM and saw it (such as the "Chats" screen) and then went into the individual chat window and the message was gone.

When I open the app sometimes it doesnt automatically sign in. I tried deleting my accounts then adding again. It worked but took about 30 seconds...

I have two im accounts, one MSN and one AIM. The MSN account connects fine, but the AIM account never does. I keep getting the message: "You have been connecting and disconnecting too frequently. Wait ten minutes and try again...". I've waited and tried again many times. I can connect fine using adium on a mac, but still can't log in using mc. Anyone else getting this? Anyone know how to get around it???

Thanks! I know it's been a rough start, but I have high hopes for this app!

We're aware of the AIM bug that constant tries to reconnect. We're trying to get this fixed.

However, what most people don't know (mainly because we never had the opportunity to mention it) is when you delete the account on your phone, it also removes it from the server. So if you delete it from your phone, it SHOULD start working again after 15 minutes or so (that 10 minutes is a bit of a lie, usually takes longer)

i can attest to the fact that waiting 15, 30, even 8 hours has STILL not cleared out the "wait 10 minutes" issue. i JUST added back my aim account to see if what you said was the case, and nope. still locked out of aim.

i have the same problem. everything else works ok, but i'm locked out of aim when using mobilechat. the 'official' aim client works fine, as well as my adium client. seems like the account is still being stored on the mobilechat server (although i've deleted it from my iphone over 24 hours ago)

I have figured out that if you do not go back to the status screen and click Offline... the server will constantly keep trying... therefore those 10 minutes just keep adding up! You have to make sure that if you get that message, to click OFFLINE in the Status menu, so that it stops trying to connect. It doesn't always fix the problem, but most of the time it does. It might have nothing to do with it, but worth a try!

Yeah, I'm having the same issue. I can connect immediately using the official AIM client. Hope you guys get it fixed soon, the other services are working fine, but most of my friends are on aim :)

I wouldn't even begin to give you an estimate. We've two conflicting sides on this. Some people say once you initially get approved, you get "fast tracked" to approval the second time, and others say they've waited 3 weeks for an update to go through.

when i tap on "mobilechat" it won't even let me log in or do anything it just crashes and takes me back to the home screen. I bought the app last night around this time and i still haven't been able to do anything with the app. and from the looks of what i read i can't get a refund. can you please help?

Were you ever able to get this to work? This was a bug we didn't become aware of until after we submitted to Apple Store the first time. We've corrected it but until the update comes out, that doesn't really help you.

The crash is due to a corruption in the settings file. The easiest way to fix this, is to completely uninstall the app from the phone (hold the icon, press the x) and then let iTunes reinstall it.

If you bought the app on your phone, make sure you sync with iTunes so it gets transferred to iTunes

Found another bug:

I've set up an away message in the iphone settings for mobile chat which says "eMail Mode". This should appear when i hit the Home Button, so that everyone else knows that im currently not logged in but still reachable via your (not yet offered) push email service.

But instead of "eMail Mode" there is always just a simple "away" in the Status Field as soon as i hit the Home Button. Would be cool if this one gets fixed as soon as the push email service is up and running :)

Btw... when i quit the App (and my Account gets into Away Mode) it will not switch back to the available mode when i log in again (its quite hard to get connected.. but sometimes it works). It always stays in away mode...

Thanks for the feedback André. We'll take a look at the away message bug as thats server related and we should be able to fix that without an app update.

Your second issue will definitely require an app update, and we'll add it to our ever growing list of things to take care of in the second update.

Away mode is disabled by default but still sets you as away when you exit the app. I have manually enabled and then disabled this but it still sets you as away no matter what this is set to (since I prefer it to not set me as away on my mobile ever).

Some more feedback:

1. Buddy icons aren't loading for other users. I haven't seen it appear when chatting with myself on my computer. It appears blank and when chatting with someone else who has the app, it is blank through MobileChat as well. Edit: This refers to the buddy icon set in MobileChat.

2. The "<username> is typing" bar doesn't appear when chatting with someone else with MobileChat (or hasn't in my experience). It does work (and very well/quick) when chatting with a desktop client such as Adium.

3. My MSN account within the 10 minutes will connect in MobileChat (handshakes/cookies/etc) but it doesn't appear online to my other username on my computer and if I try to send an IM from MobileChat to my computer, it never receives it. I can disconnect and reconnect with it successfully connecting (crash here and there) but still won't appear online.

As of right now, it'll keep you connected as long as it can. However as you said, once it gets stable, we've been considering the idea of logging the user out after one or two weeks of inactivity. Meaning, if you go a week (or two, depending on what we decide) without ever opening MobileChat, it will sign you out.

From a security standpoint, I think it's a good idea. However, we haven't made a final decision yet.

Just to prevent confusion, as long as you open MC before the week (or two) is up, it'll reset the timer, so in theory, you'd be able to stay connected for 4 weeks as long as you open the app once a week. And so on, and so on

for example i would like to stay logged in all day... but i don't want to be online between midnight and 8am. that would be pretty sweet.

My vote is on 24 hours as well as a MAX, why tax your servers for people who try the app once a week to send one message. Hell, personally 8 hours seems generous. That would keep the accounts logged in for what amounts to a fulls work day, should be plenty for most users.

When push notifications are added to the iPhone you could ping people when their connection is about to get dropped etc.

If you sleep for over 8 hours on the weekends, you'll be logged out.

This has been my experience with this as well.

MobileChat has always said I've tried too many times (haven't been able to log into it on my AIM yet), however I can visit meebo.com not one minute later and connect just fine.

I get the same. Adium signs in and out no problem but mobilechat gives the 10 minutes message. Sometimes i'll wait 30 minutes or more and it will still give the 10 minute message, and sometimes it will sign in right away if i do happen to try it again immediately after.

I've yet to see any message about restricting logins on my desktop or with any other program.

yes, that error message has nothing to do with logging in too many times... i got it my first time logging in and every time since. aim accounts are unusable right now. gtalk works fine.

Same thing is happening to me. That is the only message I've been getting since buying this app.

Adium can log me in right after that message. Also tried keeping adium open and going "online" in MC. MC gave me the 10 minutes thing, and adium did NOT pop up the standard "You are using this account in 2 places..." message when 2 clients are open.

Are your servers even attempting a connection? Or is that 10 minue error message a problem with overload?

Since launch, we've had a number of feature suggestions. We had planned on some being free, and others being in an upgrade in the future (3-4 months from now); but our stance has changed, and we'll play it by ear as we move forward.

I sent you guys an email- but I will post here too. I am running Apples OS2.0.1. It's not jailbroken or anything. I downloaded MC3 earlier this morning. Around 9pm est it pushed 2 ims to my homescreen. I have the snapshot I took to prove it!

Anyways, I can't wait untill all of the bugs are worked out. An edit buddies feature is a must add.

This happened to me as well. I think for me it was just a couple of unread IMs that got pushed to the app as I was opening it, but before it crashed... the IMs were not read and so it displayed them on the icon....

Keil.. I find it highly unlikely that we somehow got a miracle push from apples not-yet active cloud.

I don't doubt that it was an error. But it's kinda wierd how I was using MC, left to check my email, and went back to the home screen to see a 2 on the app icon. The app didn't crash after going back on either.

Will the app send the number of unread ims to the icon that it has recieved? Possibly it recieved them at the exact moment it hit home, and took a second to update the icon while I was already in mail? It was so wierd that I had to press home & sleep.

First great work!!! Loving the app even with the downtime.

From an aesthetic standpoint, i find the text size in the IM chat screen is quite small and hard to read with my admittedly imperfect eyesight . I find that the bubble and text size of the standard SMS app is much easier to read and a bit more pleasing to look at.

An option to change the text size or pinch zoom would be great

I did have a few questions though. How do you add people to your Buddy List? I assume this page will be populated from the saved buddies that you have added under each of your respective chat accounts, but this does not seem to be happening for me.

Additionally, while I can log into my Yahoo! account, I cannot seem to login to my MobileMe account. Either it cannot resolve the user name (when @me.com is not included), or it tells me that the account was disconnected, which can happen when you try to access too frequently. I waited the hour as suggested, but the issue persists.

Most of my Buddies are linked to my MobileMe account, so I am really looking forward to using this feature in the future. SMS via Chat rocks though!

But I have some bugreports too:
1) My MSN name is 29 characters long, but after entering it, the second last is deleted.
2) It looks like the applications tries to "hammer" in at login witch causes the login servers to instantly block for 10 Minutes.
3) No indicator so far for account status (online? offline? anything?)

- Sort contacts by Online/Offline
- Refresh the contacts list every time we log on, cause now my friends list never changes. (a glitch?)

Severely disappointed with this app. I know you guys are working hard and I know you underestimated the popularity (although, I think that might have been bad judgement considering just how popular chat is anyway). And I know it's only $3 spent, but I remain disappointed. This app is just the sharp point of a spear of iPhone apps where the consumers end up being the beta testers and, sometimes, like in this case, having to pay for the "privilege." I don't think we're being hoodwinked here and I see the sincerity of the developers coming through in these posts. Still, I resent paying for anything that does not work, no matter how much it cost and no matter what the promises from those who sold it to me. I think this reflects poorly on the developers and Apple and the entire iPhone experience. By this time next year, hopefully all this will be polished up to create the experience we all expect from a company like Apple and the people who support and build products for them.

Well, I wouldn't have considered an app labeled 3.0 to be a "first release" though -- I would have expected a polished app, that does what it claims to be doing...! Instead it's an app that doesn't work most of the time and when it does it makes you realize how many basic IM features it actually lacks...

And after two days of patience I've mostly had it with people hyping this app based on what it used to be or what it *will* be or what it *could' be...I tend to live in the here and now and that is where this app fails in an epic way...

I found some little glitch in the app. Try to add an account with a very long name (like 40 char or so) and take a look at everything it break (in the account tab and while chatting). Then there's an other bug with the display picture witch is not correctly scalled while chatting (The buddy list look ok). I don't know if it mather but I use a Windows Live account.

looks like im not the only one with the logging in problem:

MSN logs in just fine, but when i try logging in with my .mac account through .mac or AIM, it gives me the "you've logged in too many times, wait 10 minutes" message but when i go into ichat on my macbook, it logs in perfectly fine. i deleted the account, uninstalled the app, waited 30 minutes, issue persists.

Hello guys. I just bought this app. The glitches are a pain but i expect them to be fixed very soon. The times however i have got the App to work.. I love it. I love that i am being notified via sms, heck depending on what apple brings to the push market i might even perfer the sms notification. I even have my emails forworded from gmail to my phone through SMS so i can see them instantly!

Some issues iv seen, maybe they have been mentioned?

I would love to have the ability to see if a friend is on their phone (like some Aim buddys of mine turn on mobile aim and they AIM over text message.

Also. When i re-open mobilechat, i hate that it goes to the "accounts" tab first. It would be helpful for it to open in the chats, or even buddys window.

i think those are the two issues iv had, aside from the most obvious ones. I think i am going to love this app. paying 3 dollars is nothing. The ability for you guys to keep my chats on your servers, and just sending me the messages as i get them or send them is a big time battery savor (seems like it uses up as much battery as SMS) , and also a fantastic tool for when i am at work and my edge/3g connections are very shotty. Keep it up mates.

They aren't even very similar. the only thing similar is that they are both blue. MobileChats icon is sleek and simplistic, while UniCon could probably use a new icon with the bad drop shadow they use on their block lettering, and they could lower the opacity on the shine. But to say the MobileChat team copied theirs is silly... people don't copy bad designs.

They are similar enough. Blue squares that are very close to the same blue with "MC" and "UC" on them. They are plenty similar. The font is not exactly the same and the spacing is not either, but they are similar. Try actually putting them next to each other and see.

2. ICQ i can't see buddies who are invisible but they set me visible
3. ICQ invisible buddies send message, it never appears on MC but it does in Parlindo
4. Missed feature to see offline buddies and send them offline messages

I haven't encountered any huge problems beside the server down time when everyone (!) was trying to get online. Is there any formal written statement regarding how you handle the data? i.e. you say that the messages are queued and then removed once delivered and that passwords are not stored. Besides in this comment thread, is there anywhere that specifically outlines your information security measures? I can't seem to find anything and for the sake of full disclosure it would be nice to see something in writing.

Hi, i tested the "4. Messages that do not get through." with some friends.

There's one way to run easily into that problem:

Open Mobilechat so it logs in (ICQ for me), then close it.
Now it should be connected, but the program on the iphone not running.

Now let a friend send you a message, that haven't sent you a message before.
In other words: There should be no open Conversation with him in MobileChat.

Now open MobileChat again on iPhone and you will see that there are no new messages/conversations.

On the other side: If u chat with someone first and then close Mobilechat,
you will receive the message he worte after you reopen the app.


We tested this with several Accounts/Devices yesterday and it was always reproduceable.


This is really annouying, because if someone wants to reach you, you will never be aware of it...

There is this bug with MSN.. the contact list does not seem to be updating at all..
For example yesterday in the afternoon it loaded and had 20 online contacts. Late in the morning (3am) I tried again and still 20 or so online contact. I went to my computer and the number of online contact was less than 5 or so. They were also different from the 20 online in the afternoon.

I get always the message: " Lost connection with server: Connection reset by peer". What does it mean? I use an ICQ account and it does not work. I thought, that it will function today, but it is the same beta software than yesterday. I hope you will fix it now!! If not, I can use other IM Software.

When I try to sign in using AIM it keeps telling me I sign in/out too much. I deleted the account, waited an hour, tried again and it still tells me the same thing. It's been doing this since I bought the app yesterday. In Adium I can sign in no problem.

I would easily pay 2.99 for your application. But to many people give very bad reviews. The aplication sounds great in theory but in practice it's not looking good. Even 4.99 is good but don't charge for updates.

In my opinion you guys had enogh time to test the app. It`s not v1.0 it`s v3.0 !! But for me its nothing more than alpha. Many many guys paid 3 dollars.... you get a damn lot money from all of us so do your job ! 3 dollars from.... hmmm 10.000 people ? Ok, minus the apple %...

Obviously your not following the picture. The devs are now using a whole different system. 3.0 is different from all other versions because now you are connected through a server. It's used to save battery life and to keep you connected when you lose your crappy at&t signal or when your not using the app.

Just wanted to let you guys know that I am actually impressed with the application. Much better (when working) than the free app. That said, when I become disconnected I have no real way of knowing other than trying to send a message and getting "Cannot connect with MobileChat" Do you know if that will be fixed? Not only that, notification within the actual chat that you've been disconnected would be wonderful.

I agree with Wraeththu. I will be typing away, sometimes a huge message, then get a message saying it can't connect to Mobilechat. In fact, i can NEVER stay connected for more than 2 or 3 messages and then bam, I am gone. My only option at that point is to close the program and reopen it, only to have it happen again. I take that to mean the servers are still not working correctly. But yeah some notification you got bumped would be nice. I go back to the main screen after that message and it still shows me "green" and logged in, yet I can't send messages. Very annoying! :(

somebody writes with the same username as me........... Anyways Sweep, thanks for info u gave me last time. But what did u mean that Palringo doesn't have a background server? I thought every instant messenging application requires a server. Do u mean that MobileChat has 2 different kinds of servers to run on. Does that mean that Palringo will never have Push Notifications?
I also looked at Palringo, and what dissapoints me is that even after that update people are still having problems running it, as well for some reason it requires u to also make a pointless account with Palringo.
On another side, currently Mobile Chat is also very buggy ( don't know if the v3.0.1 will fix everything). So yeah, Apple deffinately screwed up!!! They should of allowed background running in their SDK. That's why i like Windows Mobile cause no restrictions.

So, i'll wait until more updates roll in, and then pick which i will be using as my IM app on my ipod touch (i don't have an iphone). Right now every IM for Ipod touch is crap.

Well tonight I was able to use the app for the first time (after no connection last night), and I am extremely happy with it. Top work guys!!

When it is 100% stable, I will recommend it to all of my mates with iPhones. Much much nicer than Palringo. Very quick and responsive.

To those having troubles; be patient... If and when they iron out the bugs, you will be satisfied.

My problems with MOBILECHAT:

1- The program crash sometimes
2- Problems to conect with Windows Mesenger Live
3- When I have conected in some times the program desconect me the messenger
4- My contacts always is online (green point)??????. And when I have desconected my budy list have conected??
5- The budy list is not real. Users online are offline, not show all the list in realtime (the contacts offline and online) the grups, etc. This features is great in PALRINGO.

I'm no happy with this version of MOBILECHAT. I thinks that a no free software must run correctly.
The program has too many bugs and shortcomings to be available in the App Store.

Unfortunately I had to give just one star in the App Store to warn people that even we do not recommend its purchase. And all forums in Spanish that I have read are very unhappy with the operation.

We will wait a upgrade :(

Im sure you don't want to keep MC running all the time and not do any thing else on your Iphone/Ipod touch. If there is NO server NO Iphone IM app will ever let you get IM's when the program is closed. MC posted in the APP Store description that this app is SERVER based. Please READ app store descriptions before you buy an app (though i really wish app had a way to trial apps but they don't)

I cant even connect, I keep getting told I have connected/disconnected too many times. I tried this morning after not having tried at all over night and I still got the message. I havent been able to use it at all!!! Even so, with a paid app, I expect to connect/disconnect as much as I want. Hell, I can do it with AIM's free app! me: You've received a message from xxxxx@gmail.com, open MobileChat to view it.

obviously that the opposite of what should be happening... but the mail is coming in as a chat....

weird.. and something to look into on your end! (when you have some free time)

Just wanted to rehash the bugs ive seen which might already be fixed in the next version:

1. The 10 minute login bug - saying I tried to log in too many times.
2. Buddies showing online, who arent actually online
3. Sometimes messages come in blank and only show up if I close and reopen the program
4. Buddy icon that I set for myself isnt being sent to anyone
5. MSN nicknames arent showing up but I can manually assign a name to them
6. Away messages arent working - no matter what I type it still says away
7. Status is changed to offline when I close the program... Id like that to automatically sign me in or have an option to do so.


The big one is the 10 minute login thing... My account isnt locked, I was able to use adium and log in perfectly. This needs to be fixed so people can access the app!

Hopefully this all gets resolved shortly!

Here's my latest update on how it's working for me...

I had a tiny bit of success. I DID get it to connect, and function correctly with my GTalk account (i.e., messages were properly sent and received, and I closed the app and reopened it and my messages that were sent while it was closed were there waiting).

Still haven't been able to get AIM to work. I keep getting that "You're signing on and off too much, wait 10 minutes" message. And yes, I have tried going offline, disabling the account for an hour or so, enabling it, and connecting, etc., etc., and I still get the same message.

And now, the app just crashes when I try to open it. Good times. Time to reinstall again!

I just bought this app for 3 bucks, because of the mms capabilities, i get the same thing, added Yahoo!, MSN, AIM, and GMail, and when i try to connect it gives me "Cannot connect to mobile chat", whith absolutely no explanation why. Since this IS in the app store i would expect it to actually work. After searching the internet, I can't find any help except for this tumblr page. Very unprofessional for people *selling* an application not to even have their own website. As well as only having a comment board on tumblr for bug reports and help. I am severely disappointed, not that 3 bucks is a lot, but its still 3 bucks i spent basically to get nothing in return.

umm great potential i guess, but this is possibly the worst app i have ever wasted my money on thus far.

fair enough that your servers are getting hammered and you weren't fully prepared, but the massive amount of GUI errors screams that you clearly didn't do enough beta testing whatsoever for this thing AT ALL.

MSN seems to be able to log in but i'm not even sure because it tells me "Not Authorized" every single time. for some reason in a chat, my MSN email address sits UNDER the grey border where the user icon sits. When I'm looking at my account list, it looks all mashed together with the 'progress bar' overlapping the usernames. i can only fix this by switching to landscape mode. I can't even tell if Google Talk is even working because my buddy list doesn't even update. Oh and of course, my AIM can't log in at all like everyone else on here. oh god theres so much more crap wrong i feel like you should be paying US to use this app.

absolutely terrible release so far and will be rating it appropriately.

Accounts list is going blank after the app connects to servers. If you know where the account list should be, you can bring up prefs but this shouldn't be happening. Also, my selected userpic is getting cropped -- I can see this now that I can finally check my new purchase ... two days later.

I'm really looking forward to a stable MC - as soon as it works as advertised, I'll buy it. The one question I still have: Does MC support SSL-encrypted connections? Both between the iPhone and their server, and the server and the actual IM services. I'm not really keen on sending my passwords out into the world unencrypted.

I had a very good conversation with apple on the phone about this application they said that they are looking into removing it from the app store since basically hundreds of people wasted there money on a app that i suppose to work but instead doesn't. Apple said they will be notifying them and giving them 7 to 10 days to clean up their act and release a stable versionf or the public or the application will be removed from the app store.

Must say, I'm quite surprised that a company of the magnitude of Apple, gives out sensitive information of this sort to a "nobody" (i.e. a person NOT connected to the MobileChat crew in any way whatsoever).

If this is true, then I am quite sure that legal measures can be taken, hence the reason for me being slightly suspicious as to the truthfulness of the above poster.

Never connects to AIM. Tells me that I've been connecting too often. I've reinstalled the application, I've removed and again added my account several times; nothing will fix it. Incidentally, I can login to my account using any other client no matter how many times I get that message in MobileChat. Speaking of the message, sometimes it shows up three times in a row and then the whole visual UI breaks. Basically, I'm beginning to be impatient considering this was supposed to replace a free application that currently... get this... works.

1) Offline buddies aren't supposed to show in the buddies list? Mine don't show... only online buddies... but even those, show as online and arent really online... weird.

I notice that when i click on the MC icon i go straight to the accounts tab and it shows as gray so i go into the Status tab and go from online to "offline" back to "online" and it automatically signs me in... isn't it supposed to sign me in as soon as i click the MC icon to open the application?

Sorry to say it gents, but I have uninstalled MobileChat.

And most likely will not be installing it again.

I did get it to work so-so, albeit with a few problems. However, all day today the app has been unable to open. It just might open for 5 seconds, only to crash instantly. I have tried everything. Installing it again, installing via iTunes. Nothing worked, the app simply will not run, at all on my iPhone.

Add to that the fact that I am experiencing MASSIVE change in battery-life since installing this app, for some odd reason, and I have to say that I will not install it until at a further time when everything has been set out straight, when all bugs have been fixed.

Now what? I will have to wait till September for now. Once push-notification is released, a few other IM apps will be released. Amongst these Beejive and possibly Fring.

One of these will most likely be the one I choose. I will keep following your adventures with this app, and wish you all the best. You have a really good thing going for you, I just am left with the feeling that you bit off a hell of a lot more than you can chew. Good luck!

i have a question. when i try to launch mobilechat on my iphone 2g it doesnt load up and just goes back to my homescreen. and also when i am able to get into mobilechat and i try to switch my status from offline to available it says that i have been trying to log into my account too many times and i need to wait 10 minutes and try again. is this a problem with my phone or is it a software bug and will it be fixed on the next update?

I'll start by thanking you guys for all the hard work. I'm very glad someone released a clean and good messaging application. I have two requests though which may have been suggested already... If so, consider this a support for their request I guess.

First of all, could an option be added to hide people's avatars from the contact list? Maybe I'm a minimalist but I find the screen rather chaotic with all those avatars, including some really ugly ones :p

Secondly, I think some people might appreciate the ability to sort contacts by groups. Perhaps with a collapse option... In which case offline contacts could also be displayed in the contact list. If they bother you, you can simply collapse the offline contacts group.

It's been 3 days now and I still cannot connect to aim. When I login to msn, my accounts disappear and buddy list is not updated. My chats cannot close and it still does not support other inputs like Chinese characters. This is such a waste of time and effort.

1 I keep getting a warning saying if you continue to try to log in and out you will have to wait even longer. Problem is I am not logging in and out. My computer was off and I drove 30 minutes home after work and tried logging on that is when I got the message.

2. I have a google docs account therefor it is also a google chat account . In the account tab my three accounts look all distorted and are logged in but dont show it.

3. The buddy list needs to be grouped by status and some sort of designation of what account the buddy is on.

4. If my address book on my iPhone has all my contacts linked to their sn why does it not show up as their name?

5. If i click on a buddy and do not send an im. Please dont create a chat under the chat tab.

Please just inform us of when the ten minute log in wait will be lifted when the app crashes.
Or when the app freezes due to sending a picture IM.

Sometimes pic IMs work, sometimes they crash MobileChat, I think it is ridiculous for me to have to wait ten minutes to log in again when it isn't my fault.

I shouldn't be getting used to saying "Gonna attempt to send you an image, might not be able to talk for ten minutes."

I want to avoid the impression that I am not constructive. But maybe it should be considered that if you switch off the push-notification, the redirection via the MC-servers will be switched off also. This would save quite a big portion of the necessary bandwith...of course push is a great feature, but the major aspect of the app is chatting....and in my opinion, the user expierience is far behind MC 2..
