seems like you updated the problem with the unicode support for received messages like öäü... they now come in fine..
  • André · 1 year ago
aaaaand we have a new one instead:

if you close mobile chat and reopen it the complete message history becomes unreadable if there was one single ö ä or ü used in it.

I'm a little worried about your dev cycle. It seems you went straight from implementation to release. This lack of attention isn't confined to your load testing, because I'm seeing rendering glitches in the client and poor error handling. Perhaps you could run the login process in a seperate thread, so it doesn't freeze up the UI.

I was about to start coding my own chat client but i saw yours and thought it was quite nifty. Oops. I will see if I have time to lend you guys a hand, otherwise good luck! You have a promising product.

This application isn't going to get any less popular. And I really don't think that you'll be able to handle the number of connections you'll need to. I totally saw this coming.

The only solution for an indie outfit like yourselves, in my mind, is to allow users to install the server software on their own servers that they have access to. They could then specify the server to use in the client on the iPhone. I'm sorry, but when you consider the possibility of needing to handle 100,000+ connections (a low estimate), I just don't see it happening with your centralized system.

Sorry to sound pessimistic. I actually hope I'm wrong, but the fact is you've got a very tall order on your hands.

Why do you say this? Each client's server-side session is completely self-contained and can be load-balanced onto any server. This seems to me like a problem that scales nearly indefinitely just by adding more machines (technically speaking, economics is a different matter). If you wanted to get really fancy you could perhaps even do something with Amazon EC2.

That was happening to me, now it just tells me I've been logging on and off too often and need to wait 10 min before logging on again - no matter how long I wait.

Your servers are going to take a beating, and probably will continue to. You guys need to think about long term options. Will you pay for the servers with new releases of MC? Donations?

Better fix these issues fast...especially for a paid app. I feel like I just got screwed since I just paid for something that hasn't worked AT ALL in the past two days. And to my knowledge, there's no way to get a refund.

What the app promises is great. What it's currently delivering is not.

this crap is inexcusable. you have been developing this app for a long time and you had a lot of time to prepare while you were awaiting approval from apple. if you're gonna charge for an app make sure its working to its full potential. dont give me that crap about how its only 2.99 (technically its not even really 2.99 when you think about the long term and future upgrades) when i pay for something i want to get my money's worth and seeing how this app doesnt even work yet, i shouldnt have spent a dime.

i have to agree. right now the i-am-rich app is looking like a better value.

its not just the server issue, the actual program itself is incomplete and buggy.
  • Jeremy · 1 year ago
Goodness.... now you are putting out desparate pleas for programmers???

    I want my money back.
  • monkeyrun · 1 year ago
At this point I am starting to doubt if you'll ever be able to handle all the connections.

    Why didn´t I wait a little before purchasing a construction site? :(
  • stealth · 1 year ago
because of all the hype. I can't believe it myself that this program is garbage.
